Becky’s married!

Becky’s married!

8 January 2019

Last year we spoke to Becky, a member of the sales team at the Mercure Brighton Seafront Hotel about the plans for her wedding. Now she’s tied the knot, we talked to her about her big day, what she and her husband enjoyed the most, and any recommendations she has for anyone planning a wedding.

Becky got married at the Mercure Brighton Seafront Hotel, and we started off by asking her, how was your big day?

“It might sound like a cliché, but it really was the best day of my life! It was so special celebrating our 10 year anniversary by tying the knot with our closest family and friends present. The venue was stunning, the decorations by Dazzling Decor were perfect. It was beautiful. The staff were amazing, I couldn’t have asked for a better team and Antonio is just an absolute dream! I was so lucky to have him as my wedding co-ordinator. I wasn’t nervous at all on the day as I knew I had Antonio looking after everything, and making sure everything went smoothly.

We had 56 guests for our ceremony, and 80 for the evening reception. The food was wonderful, the honey roasted pork, and lamb two ways were delicious. A few guests had special dietary requirements. We had simply let the chef know this, and they catered to these dietary requirements with ease.”

You had a photobooth, and evening disco entertainment, how did you and your guests enjoy these?

“The photobooth was a big hit. Even my Nan loved it! Our guests had fun with the silly props, and commented that it was a great idea. It provided fun for everyone, no matter what their age, and there are some fantastic photos to prove it too. Both Instant Fun who provided the photobooth, and Disco Diva who provided the disco were absolutely fantastic; I would highly recommend them.”

What was your most memorable part of the day?

“For me, the whole day was magical, but my husband’s speech really was amazing; it was so emotional. My husband says for him, it was the ceremony.”

Can you share three top tips for any brides-to-be who may be planning their wedding?

“Firstly, give yourself enough time to plan and budget for your wedding; planning for me was key to a successful day.

Secondly, find your dress a year beforehand. I ordered mine six months before, and it became a little rushed. Not helped by the dress provider going into administration two weeks before my wedding! Fortunately I was able to collect my dress, and then have it altered elsewhere. Antonio really helped with this by recommending Alma’s Alterations and Dressmaking, Alma was so helpful and friendly and made me feel calm about the situation. With two weeks left until the wedding, she made sure she had my dress ready and perfect.

Finally, enjoy the day. It goes by so fast, take some time out to really enjoy it as a couple.

My husband says, his top tip is to marry a wedding planner, and stay out of it!”

Any final comments?

My cousin mentioned that she had never been to a wedding in a hotel before, and didn’t know what to expect. She said it was amazing, that she had a fantastic day, and thoroughly enjoyed herself!
